PTA

Hello! What is PTA? It is a parent and teacher organization that works together to benefit the educational experience of all the students.

PTA does not work without YOU! How can you help?

1. Join PTA! This doesn’t mean you have to help at the school or be on the board. It means you are putting your voice with many others to advocate for children at a state and national level. Your membership really makes a difference when it comes time for lobbying at the legislature on important issues. The more members we have the more time we have on the floor of the state and national capitals to lobby for the interest of our children. The money we receive from membership fees go to not just our school PTA but to our council, state and national. The portion of the membership our school receives goes toward the many programs we sponsor: Reflections, Watch DOGS, Reading and Math Programs, Field Day, 6th grade Dance, 6th grade Celebration, Social Studies Week/Geography Bee, Service Club, Take Home Reading, Teacher Appreciation…

Where or How to join? We will have sign ups to join at the Meet and Greet on Friday, August 19th 3PM and Back-to-School Night grades 1-6 Thursday, August 25th 6 PM or Kindergarten Back- to-School Night Thursday, September 1st 6 PM. We will also send home PTA membership information home with your child during the first few weeks of school. Dues are $8 per person.

2. Volunteer! You can help as a room parent, or in your child’s classroom sign up with your child’s teacher. You can also sign up at the Meet and Greet Friday or Back to School Night to help with PTA programs (Reflections, Watch DOGS, Reading and Math Programs, Field Day, 6th grade Dance, 6th grade Celebration, Social Studies Week/Geography Bee, Service Club, Take Home Reading, Teacher Appreciation…). If you missed those sign ups you can contact the person over the program to offer your help, see the list below.

3. Attend monthly General PTA Meetings. The PTA leadership usually meets the first Thursday of each month in the Teacher’s Lounge at 9:30 AM for Executive Meetings and 10 AM for General Meetings. Check the school calendar to be sure. At the general meetings PTA members can help make decisions and stay informed. These meetings are open so please come!

4. Sponsor our PTA! Our membership dues do not cover all our costs so sponsorship is so appreciated. We also sponsor an end of year Walk A Thon and Silent Auction to raise the rest of the money we need. If you own a business or work for a company that would like to donate to our PTA we would love that! Their name and logo would not only be on this page but on the PTA Membership literature and posters we use during the year. If you are interested in sponsoring please contact our VP of Fundraising Helena Rosales at helenal.rosales@gmail.com

This past year we had some extra money raised for our budget and we donated that money for the purchase of Ipads. These will be used by all the students at Cedar Ridge. We are so blessed to live in a community where the adults care about the children and their well being. PTA could not function without this support.

The PTA budget for next year will be voted on at the General PTA Meeting at Back to School Night. Here is the budget that will be proposed:
